As we all know, subtweeting, or passive aggressive behavior in general, on social media is not proper Twitter etiquette. As a wise one once said, “Why don't you face your problems; don't Facebook ‘em.” Apparently, McDonald’s and Taco Bell had a different agenda. McDonald’s and Taco Bell have had some “beef” (no pun intended) towards one another, as Taco Bell took a dig at McDonald’s in their “Ronald McDonald Breakfast” spot.

McDonald’s couldn’t resist the opportunity to fire back and took to social media to seek their revenge. A few days after Taco Bell aired that spot, McDonald’s took time to gather their thoughts, put on a ‘seductive’ outfit, and posted this:

McDonald’s pic has received more “likes”, "ReTweets" and “shares” than that of Taco Bell’s (the best revenge is looking good). Insert Mean Girls quote: “I'm sorry that people are so jealous of me... but I can't help it that I'm so popular.”

We’re thinking McDonald’s is enjoying their big jump in engagement with their followers, and is relishing the last laugh.

Both brands are beloved by their audiences and the bickering is very entertaining. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is whose breakfast goodie will you be sadly consuming. My recommendation: try an organic green smoothie…HEY-OH!
