Lower Middle Market Trends: Independent Sponsors, Interest Rates, and a $10 Million Dollar Mop Company
Welcome to Beer Stories for Private Equity, Episode Two.
We were pleased to be joined by the funniest man in private credit, Joe Gaffigan, O2 Sponsor Finance’s President & Co-Founder (a division of Old Second National Bank). On this episode, they discuss Joe’s career as a financial entrepreneur, and the successful formula in the lower middle market cash flow lending start-ups. Scott and Joe also talk trends, like the rise of independent sponsors and the impact that interest rates have on deal flow for the lower middle market. We think you’ll especially enjoy hearing Joe’s beer story about a $10 million dollar mop company.
For the past year and a half, Joe has been with O2 Sponsor Finance. His career spans more than 30 years of financial entrepreneurship and leadership experience starting and building successful lower middle market leveraged loan portfolios and guiding numerous teams in the leveraged senior cash flow financing areas. He is a long time member of YPO and has personally committed to giving back to the community with previous board memberships at LINK Unlimited Scholars and former chairman of La Lumiere School (his alma mater).
